Prof. Dr. Lional Raj. D, is one of the leading corneal transplantation surgeons in the world. He has a patent in Implantable Sustained Release Antimicrobial Disc for Corneal Infections and Abscesses. He was accorded with a Professorship from the National Institute of Health, Zanzibar (Zanzibar Health Research Institute) in 2019.

Prof. Dr. Lional Raj. D was also an active member in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, EuCornea, European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, European Society of Ophthalmology, International Society for Refractive Surgeons and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in addition to various national forums.

To his credit holds more than 76 publications in Peer reviewed, indexed journals and world-renowned journals. He guided a number of postgraduate students in his domain.

The professor also bags many International and National awards in the field of Ophthalmological research for his thousands of surgeries in his career with novel interventions, and strategies in surgical and therapeutical manipulations. He has a Research Fellowship (Spain) in cornea and refractive surgeries.

As a Sportsman, he has played for the nation in BWF World Senior Badminton Championships held in Spain. A continuously pursuing sportsmanship in Badminton.
