Dr. Parveen Sen

Dr. Parveen Sen After doing graduation and postgraduation in ophthalmology, she did her training in Vitreoretina in Sankara Nethralya, Chennai. She continued to work there for 22 years at Sankara Nethralaya as Senior Consultant. She has experience in doing more than 15000 complicated vitreoretinal surgeries including Scleral Buckling, Retinal detachments, diabetic retinal surgeries, macular hole surgeries, eye trauma and myopia. In addition to doing all these surgeries in adults, she is a renowned Paediatric retina surgeon as well. She has won laurels across the country for paediatric retina surgery especially surgery for Retinopathy of Prematurity. She has been the head of the Electrodiagnostic services at Sankara Nethralaya and has been involved in the diagnosis and management of hereditary and non-hereditary retinal conditions.

In addition to being an experienced surgeon, Dr Parveen Sen has a keen interest in Research and Academics. She has made several presentations at National and International Conferences and has presented Key note addresses and Chaired many Sessions in various National Meetings.

She has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer of national and international journals. She has also co-authored books including Atlas of Ophthalmic Ultrasound and Fundus fluorescein angiography.

She has been a guide to the postgraduate students and optometrists and has trained several students in Vitreoretina across the country.

As a researcher, she has been the Principal as well as a co-investigator of various Research projects in clinical as well as basic research in ophthalmology
