Meet Dr. Hitendra Mehta

Hitendra Mehta, M.D. This 50-year-old physician underwent a demanding 2-year fellowship and senior residency in vitreoretinal surgery at Sankara Netharalaya in Chennai after earning his MS in 2000. He worked as a vitreoretinal consultant at Mumbai’s Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital for three years under Dr. S. Natarajan. In addition to simple and complex retinal detachments, diabetic vitreous haemorrhages, tractional RD, retinopathy of prematurity, and trauma, he has performed thousands of simple and complex vitreoretinal procedures. Vitrectomies (suture-free vitreoretinal surgery), 23 and 25 G. To his credit are numerous papers in peer- and non-peer-reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, and numerous national and international conferences. He reviews manuscripts for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology as well.
Infiniti Eye Hospital, which he co-founded with corneal cataract and refractive specialist Dr. Hijab Mehta, opened its doors in 2006.
In December 2022, they amalgamated with Dr. Agarwal’s practises, one of the largest and most prestigious in Mumbai.
